Religion Mega Project

Suprema De La Iglesia Del Ciudad Mistica De Dios Onc.

This gate means many things. This gate is one the the religions that believe that Mt. Banahaw is a sacred place. In front of the gate are full of flags that represents anyone, any religion and even foreigners can enter. The gate itself represents the unity and serenity within the everyone. The swords above represents them for being nationalistic.

Alpha and Omega

This photo shows the ten commandments of God. They also call this "Alpha Omega". It shows that we are not the only ones that follow it and that even if there are many different beliefs in Mt. Banahaw, there is still the law of God.

Jove Rex-Al

Many of us say that this kind of image is an "Illuminati" or something that has to do with evil. But in Mt. Banahaw this image represents many good things. The people at Mt. Banahaw respect it for they say that in their beliefs this triangle with an eyes and wings represents the hope, modesty and etc.

Husgado Cave

This image shows the entrance to the famous cave named "Husgado". Many in Mt. Banahaw says that this cave can forgive all your sins in the past seven (7) years of your life. Also one of their beliefs says that if a person with a great number of sins enter and does not repent for what he/she have done inside the cave he/she will not be able to go out. And they say that, the more sins you have the path towards the exit of the cave gets narrower.

Cross

This is one of the cross at the top of the "Kalbaryo". This cross symbolizes salvation, faith and forgiveness. Many locals and even foreigners do the same of what Jesus did. Carrying the cross to the top of the kalbaryo bare footed and asking for forgiveness.

Book of Life

The stone in where the students are writing the names of their loved ones using their fingers is the "Book of Life". It represents the book of St. Peter. One of the beliefs at Mt. Banahaw is that when your name was written in this book of life alive or dead, for sure you will enter in the kingdom of God.

Jordan River

This river is called the "Jordan River" or "Ilog Jordan". Where Jesus Christ was baptized. This river said to symbolize cleansing. It is where you go first before you go inside the husgado cave. This river is said to clean you physically, emotionally and mentally.

Group Reflection

Even if many people have different beliefs there is always that connects us and unity is formed. That is God, in every aspect of the places found in Mt. Banahaw, God's name will not be lost thus this make us united and have something in common and to respect with. Even in the amidst of many beleifs or any other things there is always a God for all of us.

Travelouge

Mt. Banahaw
Quezon Province

BACKGROUND
Mt. Banahaw is the grandest of the Southern Tagalog mountains. Towering high over the provinces of Laguna and Quezon, its significance in religion and folklore makes it not only a physical, but also a cultural landmark. It is home to Rizalistas and other cults, some of whom believe the mountain as the "New Jerusalem". To a wider populace, it is a sacred mountain, visited every Holy Week by devotees, some of whom made it a pledge to regularly climb Banahaw. Thus it is not surprising that places in the mountain have religious names, such as "Kweba ng Dios Ama" (Cave of the God the Father) and "Kalbaryo" (Calvary). At its foot village of Kinabuhayan, all sorts of amulets, magical stones, and healing herbs are peddled, together with souvenir shirts.

Meanwhile, many residents of San Pablo City and nearby towns, especially the males, climb it as a rite of manhood or a teenage adventure. For their part, for Manila-based mountaineers it is the Level 3 climb closest to home. Aside from the challenging, 2-3 day trek, there are waterfalls, pools, and caves to explore. One famous cave is "Husgado", which is so tortuous and narrow that it is said that evil persons will not be able to come out of it.

SPECIAL CONCERNS :

Hiking in Banahaw is currently forbidden; do not use this information to make an unofficial, illegal climb. Instead, you may explore the two other peaks of the Banahaw trilogy, namely Mt. Banahaw de Lucban and Mt. Cristobal. Both are challenging climbs, worthy of the Banahaw experience.

There are numerous religious and natural points of interest in Banahaw. This is why it is ideal to hire a guide, so that you can learn more about the mountain. If you have time, ask your guide to take you to the places of your choice.

And as we, 10 - BRC went to Mt. Banahaw. All of us are excited and nervous of what will happen and what we might see at the top of the "Kalbaryo".

As the bus took off. Everybody pray for the success of our last but not the least of all the outbound trips we had. Many of us brought gadgets like PSP, MP3 and Cellphones. And as we stop for a breakfast stopover, many rush over the fastfood chain for they can't wait for our arrival in Mt. Banahaw.

As we near to Mt. Banahaw many were so excited and we can already see the body of the mountain itself.

As we arrive at our destination point, where we will meet our guides through Mt. Banahaw

As the tour guides arrive. They first made us to do some warm-up exercise. And as the done doing the warm-up exercise, we immediately move towards our journey to Mt. Banahaw. We went through the residence near Mt. Banahaw. After it the hard part starts.

As our journey continue, even when everybody is tired, we all just laugh and expect that our march to Kalbaryo is worth it. When we reached the top, we felt the chill of the wind at the top of the Kalbaryo and an amazing view above.

As we had enough rest we already started to go down the Kalbaryo. Everyone of us were so happy and thought that the every step we take forward while going up even though we are already tired is worth it.

We all go home full of smiles and rest for all the rest of the trip.
